What is: Dermaplaning

A new addition to the LashXtend beauty salons, Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment. Perfect for dermatology practices, or if you already have a skin care technician in your salon, it would be a great addition to your services.
What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is the process of using a sterile, surgical-grade scalpel to carefully shave the surface layer of skin and fine hairs from the face. It is a deep form of exfoliation and is typically used during a facial or on its own for the prevention of acne, fine wrinkles and build-up on the skin.
What Are The Benefits?
There are a number of amazing benefits to Dermaplaning for the client. This exfoliation method does not only remove the vellus hairs (tiny facial hairs) but will also remove the top layer of the skin to reveal fresh, soft skin. It is often used to reduce acne scars and fine lines on the face, and the result is baby soft skin and a smooth surface for better product application.
Is it Safe?
The practice of Dermaplaning is completely safe if you have a qualified technician performing the service. Make sure staff who are completing this service are fully trained and take caution to avoid any small injury or scarring to the face.
How Much is the Service?
Dermaplaning can vary from prices depending on the place, however, for the service, the price should range between $100-$200 for the face and $200-$300 for the face, neck and decolletage.
Who Should Try Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is safe for anyone who feels as though they have an excess of facial hair, or for those looking for a deep exfoliation. However, if you have excessively oily skin or acne it's best to avoid the service for risk of making your skin worse. In this case, a chemical exfoliant may work better.
